Houston Gastro Institute was founded by Dr. Vivian Asamoah, a board-certified gastroenterologist trained at Johns Hopkins, to bring a different kind of gastroenterology care to Katy and west Houston. Care that combines the full toolkit of modern gastroenterology with the time to understand each patient, and with nutrition and lifestyle support built in from the first visit.
Today the practice includes two board-certified gastroenterologists, two nurse practitioners, registered dietitians and a nutrition team, and its own ambulatory surgery center in the same building.

Dr. Asamoah owns both. Zazen Surgery Center is the ambulatory surgery center where our physicians perform colonoscopy and upper endoscopy, in the same building as our clinic.

Yes. Some visits, such as follow-ups and nutrition visits, can be done by video. Procedures and first visits that need an exam are done in person. Ask our team which option suits your appointment.
